Having a Reactive Dog is NOT Black or White

I have been where you are Now

I personally have dealt with owning a Reactive Dog, actually 2 dogs. I understand the very real concerns, and very distressing behaviors associated with this behavior. My Soul Dog, and demo dog for all of my classes, Max, is a formally reactive dog. He went through 2 car windshields, and the plate glass front window of my home, at people and dogs. I tried everything BAT, LAT, different collars, different treats, U-turns, walking at 11:00 pm or 5:00 am. I think I tried everything honestly! Then I figured it out quite by accident. But once I did, I kept practicing it, and Max changed, Max relaxed, Max was quiet and calm. I began to share my unique method with close clients and friends, then more and more and more clients. They were all having great success, and were able to regain the dogs that they once knew.

Now I share this focused on-leash reactivity program in a Reactive Dog Boot Camp group class environment, OR in a private 1:1 basis. The method I will teach you is designed to help you and your dog gain calm, confidence, and control during real-world walks. You will learn about what contributes to having a Reactive Dog, and most importantly how to support your dog and build clear communication, and loving leadership skills.

Reactive Dog Boot Camp Outline

Class 1
1 Private 1:1 scheduled with me prior to the first in person class to learn the tool we use, and to discuss your dog’s particular triggers, behaviors, and help to guide you through a better and more holistic understanding of reactivity, and things that I recommend personally for you and your dog. Not every dogs reactivity is the same, and the information and training needs to be tailored to you and your dog.

Class 2 and 3 are over a Weekend‍ ‍

In a Group setting, because nothing makes a reactive dog react more, than another reactive dog. We will be learning, and working around each other practicing what is called systematic desensitization, while you are leading your dog through their fears, and allowing them to learn to process, and make other choices regarding their emotional state of mind. The method that I will share with you is rooted in Natural Horsemanship. We use zero food treats, no prong or stimulation collars and no leash corrections or leash pops. We also will not stand miles away desensitizing our dogs, no u-turns, none of the typical methods that for most people do not work long term.
